Open Heavens for Teens 27 May 2019 – Are You P.O.O.R?

Memorise: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2:15

Read: Ecclesiastes 9:11

11. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Bible In One Year: 1 Chronicles 20-22, John 10:22-42

MESSAGE:

Someone once defined the word poor as Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly. The ability to take every opportunity God gives you is a determining factor in becoming what God wants you to be.

The fact is that genuinely rich people are rich today because they did not let opportunities pass them by, while a lot of the poor are poor today because they kept procrastinating and hardly seized any opportunity that came their way.

This is also applies to the Christian faith. Show me a fast growing believer and I will show you a convert who did not allow opportunities for growth to pass by unutilized. Also Read – Open Heavens 28 May 2019

Everyone that is born again has ample opportunities for growth. the issue is, what do you do with such opportunities? 2 Timothy 2:15 says you should study the scriptures as us you are about to sit for an examination. Bible study, outreaches, revival services, Sunday services, et cetera are all avenues for growth.

In addition, books authored by anointed men and women of God are available for study by the one who wants to be outstanding. Are you grabbing these opportunities? The more opportunities you grab, the more outstanding you become.

Key Point:
Opportunities grabbed and utilised add to the user, but opportunities ignored diminish the one to which they were sent. Also Read – Open Heaven 27 May 2019

Hymn 1:

1 My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2 May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm and changeless be,
A living fire!

3 While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4 When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll;
Blest Savior, then, in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul.
